Q. I am purchasing a two bedroom apartment off plan, but not sure whether I should purchase with or without a parking space. As I don’t have a car myself, is there really any advantage to purchasing a space, and is it worth the extra expense?
A. Most off plan opportunities with one beds and studio apartments are now sold without the option to buy parking as there is usually a shortage. However two beds are usually always offered with the option to purchase a space at an extra cost being anywhere between £25-30,000 depending on the development. Purely from the re-sale aspect, which one would assume that at some point you would entertain, I would always recommend purchasing a space on a two bed unit even if you do not actually require parking yourself as you will certainly find it easier to dispose of on the second hand market. If you find that initially you have no use for the parking space personally, most developments have a demand for renting unused spaces which can provide an extra income.
