Q. With regards to home improvements and general decoration is there anything I should avoid considering I will want to sell next year?
A. Great question! Of course we all have different tastes and styles when it comes to interior design, and certainly some of us are way more flamboyant and adventurous than perhaps our more conservative neighbours, but if you are considering selling then its best not to go for anything too wild and off the wall especially when it comes to things like kitchens and bathroom as rooms like these are hugely expensive to replace for potential buyers, so could put them off if its not their style. If you really need to make a statement then you are far better to add a splash of colour with selected pieces of Art, furniture and soft furnishings and stick to neutral colours on the floors and walls. Of course beautifully presented property with great kitchens and bathrooms will definitely help to sell and will almost always sell quicker than an average property of a similar price and style, so its definitely worth taking the time to make improvements, although don’t go overboard with expensive top of the range items particularly when you know you are going to sell as you are rarely able to recover the cost back fully on such items.
