Q. I’m really nervous about the introduction of Home Information Packs across the board, I’m really not clear about what I need to do, can you help?
A. As you know the government has now made it illegal to market any type of property for sale without having a H.I.P in place. Please don’t be nervous or worried about this as your agent will be more than happy to talk you through the whole process. There are many H.I.PS providers around and by now most agents will already have affiliated themselves with a provider. Your agent will be able to arrange the H.I.P with their provider or indeed point you in the right direction if you feel you would prefer to arrange this yourself. Most of the local solicitors firms are all now keen to provide the packs also, so it’s worth having a chat with them too. Its worth noting that the energy performance certificate must be displayed on all marketing material; most companies are providing the certificates in jpeg format to enable the agent to comply with this request.
